Comparative Study[Comparison of oxygen therapy with nasal continuous positive airway pressure on Cheyne-Stokes respiration in patients with chronic congestive heart failure].
To compare the acute effects of oxygen therapy and nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) therapy on Cheyne-Stokes respiration (CSR) in patients with stable chronic congestive heart failure (CHF). ⋯ CSR occurs frequently in patients with stable CHF. Both higher concentration oxygen and nCPAP can be used as therapeutic strategies in CHF patients with CSR.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Beneficial neurohormonal profiles of beta-blockades in chronic left heart failure].
The aims of this study were to evaluate the effects of beta-blockers on neurohormonal factors in patients with chronic left heart failure (CHF). ⋯ The plasma level of NT-proBNP is more sensitive and accurate than the plasma level of PRA, Ang II and Ald in evaluation of severity and prognosis of CHF. beta-Blocker administration in patients with CHF decreases circulating levels of NT-proBNP and thus improves left ventricular function, but there is no significant effect on plasma level of PRA, Ang II and Ald.

[The clinical features and the diagnosis of gastro-esophageal reflux induced cough].
Gastro-esophageal reflux (GER) is an important etiological factor inducing chronic cough. This study aims to identify the clinical features for the diagnosis of GER induced cough (GERC). ⋯ Cough associated with having meals is of diagnostic value for GERC. The reflux events are more frequent when patients are awake, with upright position and after meals.

[A study on the relationship between alpha- and beta-isoform of glucocorticoid receptors and glucocorticoid-resistant idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura].
To clarify the relationship between the expression of alpha- and beta-isoforms of glucocorticoid receptors (GR) and response to glucocorticoid in peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) of patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura (ITP). ⋯ It is shown that the excessive expression of GRbeta may serve as a novel predictor of glucocorticoid resistance in patients with ITP.
