We analyzed prepulse inhibition (PPI) of the blink reflex (BR) in patients with cervical dystonia (CD) to examine the sensory modulation of the motor system. ⋯ The modulatory effects of sensory inputs are lost in patients with CD without sensory tricks.

To determine if changes in cortical alpha-band power in patients with mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) are associated with the severity of their post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, and if injury severity and level of exposure to psychologically traumatic events are predictors of these electrophysiological changes. ⋯ Our findings will guide future studies addressing the electrophysiological mechanisms underlying a higher incidence of PTSD in patients with mTBI.

Burst-suppression is reactive to photic stimulation in comatose children with acquired brain injury.
Burst-suppression is an electroencephalographic pattern observed during coma. In individuals without known brain pathologies undergoing deep general anesthesia, somatosensory stimulation transiently increases the occurrence of bursts. We investigated the reactivity of burst-suppression in children with acquired brain injury. ⋯ Measurement of burst ratio reactivity could represent a simple method to monitor coma severity in critically ill children.

The aim of this study is to quantitatively assess the resting-state brain activity in migraine patients during the headache-free phase with magnetoencephalography (MEG). ⋯ Abnormal brain activities in the left frontal and temporal regions may be involved in pain modulation and processing of migraine. These findings provide new insights into the possible mechanisms of migraine attacks.
