The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on adverse fetal outcomes: A cross-sectional study.
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has been one of the most damaging pandemics in all of human history. Some of the most vulnerable groups within society such as pregnant women and children have also been affected. This observational research, cross-sectional study was conducted to investigate if there was any difference in the incidence of unfavorable outcomes in pregnancy such as miscarriage, intrauterine fetal demise, and early neonatal death during the year prior to the pandemic and the year of the COVID-19 pandemic. ⋯ The study included all pregnant women who had an unfavorable pregnancy outcome such as miscarriage and intrauterine fetal demise, as well as early neonatal death at the University Hospital of Split within the time frame mentioned previously. There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes in the year prior to the pandemic and during the year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our study showed that the pandemic did not have a negative effect on pregnant women and their fetuses; there was no increase in miscarriage, intrauterine fetal demise, or perinatal death during the year of the pandemic.

NETosis is a critical innate immune mechanism of neutrophils that contributes to the accelerated progression of autoimmune diseases, thrombosis, cancer, and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This study qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed the relevant literature by bibliometric methods in order to provide a more comprehensive and objective view of the knowledge dynamics in the field. ⋯ Research on NETosis is currently booming. The mechanism of NETosis and its role in innate immunity, autoimmune diseases, especially systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis, and thrombosis are the focus of research in the field of NETosis. A future study will concentrate on the function of NETosis in COVID-19 and recurrent metastasis of cancer.

Observational StudyOutcomes of COVID-19 in patients vaccinated and unvaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 and suffering from pulmonary arterial hypertension and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension.
Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) lead to progressive right heart failure. The mortality rates in PAH and CTEPH patients due to COVID‑19 are high, and vaccination against COVID‑19 is recommended in this group. ⋯ The vaccinated PAH/CTEPH patients suffered from COVID‑19 less frequently than the unvaccinated ones. The mortality rate and hospitalization due to COVID‑19 were higher in the PAH/CTEPH patients than in the general population. All efforts should be made to convince the PAH/CTEPH patients to vaccinate against COVID‑19.

Differences between the course of SARS-CoV-2 infections in the periods of the Delta and Omicron variants dominance in Poland.
Up to now, COVID‑19 caused more than 6 million deaths worldwide. So far, 5 variants of concerns have been identified, with Delta and Omicron being the subject of our analysis. ⋯ The Delta variant is associated with a more severe clinical course of the disease and a higher risk of death than the Omicron variant.

COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, is now a worldwide pandemic. The number of infected people has continually increased, and currently, this pandemic continues to present challenges to public health. Scatter plots are frequently used to interpret the impact in relation to confirmed cases. However, the 95% confidence intervals are rarely given to the scatter plot. The objective of this study was to; Develop 95% control lines on daily confirmed cases and infected days for countries/regions in COVID-19 (DCCIDC) and; Examine their impacts on public health (IPH) using the hT-index. ⋯ The scatter plot combined with the 95% control lines was applied to compare the IPHs hit by COVID-19 and suggested for use with the hT-index in future studies, not limited to the field of public health as we did in this research.
