As the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic continues to ravage the world, its impact on the health systems and survival of people with chronic diseases especially People living with HIV [PLWH] could be undermined. It becomes relevant to assess the challenges PLWH face during this period to institute measures towards combating the negative effects of the pandemic. ⋯ PLWH faces a myriad of challenges that would have a significant impact on their overall well-being and the gains of HIV care.

Medication Adherence Evaluated Through Electronic Monitors During the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic Lockdown in Switzerland: A Longitudinal Analysis.
During the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown, patients included in the Interprofessional Medication Adherence Program (IMAP) in Switzerland continued to use electronic monitors (EMs) that registered daily drug-dose intake. We aimed to understand to what extent patients' medication implementation (ie, the extent to which the patient took the prescribed medicine), measured with EMs, was impacted by the lockdown. ⋯ Medication implementation remained steady before, during and after the lockdown in 2020. The IMAP before, during and after the lockdown may have supported the adherence of most patients, by ensuring continuity of care during periods of routine disturbances.

As of March 2020, skin lesions associated with COVID-19 have been described. The objectives of the study were to characterize the skin lesions in these patients, analyze their temporal relationship, association with the severity of the disease, extracutaneous symptoms and laboratory parameters. A prospective, observational, analytical and cross-sectional study was conducted in hospitalized patients diagnosed with COVID-19. ⋯ This work shows the skin manifestations in patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in our environment. The most prevalent pattern was the maculopapular rash that was associated with the moderate form of the disease. The appearance of lesions 2 weeks after the onset of COVID-19 symptoms was associated with secondary dermatoses.

Lives saved and hospitalizations averted by COVID-19 vaccination in New York City: a modeling study.
Following the start of COVID-19 vaccination in New York City (NYC), cases have declined over 10-fold from the outbreak peak in January 2020, despite the emergence of highly transmissible variants. We evaluated the impact of NYC's vaccination campaign on saving lives as well as averting hospitalizations and cases. ⋯ This study was supported by The Commonwealth Fund.
