Evaluating the Prevalence of Cardiac Surgery-associated Acute Kidney Injury After Septal Myectomy Combined With Concomitant Procedures in Obstructive Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.
Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) may be treated by septal myectomy. Cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury (CSA-AKI) is a common complication, but little is known about its incidence after septal myectomy. The objectives of this work were to evaluate the prevalence of CSA-AKI after septal myectomy and identify potential perioperative and phenotype-related factors contributing to CSA-AKI. ⋯ CSA-AKI is a common complication after septal myectomy but was transient, and kidney function recovered in all patients.

To assess the incidence of postoperative shoulder imbalance (PSI) following posterior spinal fusion surgeries in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) with Lenke2 and calculate the risk factors for PSI. ⋯ The incidence of PSI for Lenke2 AIS was 28.3% at 1 week postoperatively and 6.7% at the final follow-up. ΔT1 tilt was a risk factor for PSI. Adjustment of the T1 tilt during surgery was considered useful for the prevention of PSI.

Analysis of influential factors on surgical outcomes in pediatric femur neck fractures: a single-institution retrospective study.
This retrospective study aimed to evaluate surgical outcomes and identify influential factors in pediatric femoral neck fractures. ⋯ Surgical treatment yielded favorable clinical outcomes; however, limitations due to the study's retrospective design, limited sample size, and single-center approach underscore the necessity for larger multicenter studies. Our findings emphasize the need for comprehensive investigations to better understand and manage pediatric femoral neck fractures, especially regarding factors influencing AVN and long-term outcomes.

To evaluate the role of sonography in revealing and characterizing liver transplant complications based on gray scale and color Doppler, describe the normal Doppler findings, and discuss the significance of distinguishing normal transient changes in the spectral waveform from findings that may suggests ominous complications. ⋯ Ultrasound plays crucial role in the post-operative management of compilations, facilitating early detection, which is substantial for the graft survival.

Hyponatremia is a common complication following endoscopic endonasal resection (EER) of pituitary adenomas. We report a single-center, multisurgeon study detailing baseline clinical data, outcomes, and factors associated with postoperative hyponatremia. ⋯ Hyponatremia is a common postoperative complication of EER for pituitary lesions that can cause significant morbidity, increased readmissions, and increased healthcare costs.
