Simplified calculation of mechanical power for pressure controlled ventilation in Covid-19 ARDS patients.
Mechanical power (MP) is a promising tool for guidance of lung protective ventilation. Different equations have been proposed to calculate MP in pressure control ventilation (PCV). The aim of this study is to introduce an easy to use MP equation MP
pcv(m-simpl) and compare it to an equation proposed by Van der Meijden et al. (MPpcv ) which considered as the reference equation in PCV. ⋯ The results of this study confirmed that the MPpcv(m-simpl) equation can be used easily to calculate MP at bedside in pressure control ventilated COVID-19 ARDS patients. -
The unique challenges of pediatric respiratory and airway emergencies require the development and maintenance of a prehospital quality management program that includes pediatric-focused medical oversight and clinical care expertise, data collection, operational considerations, focused education, and clinician competency evaluation. NAEMSP recommends:Medical director oversight must include a focus on pediatric airway and respiratory management and integrate pediatric-specific elements in guideline development, competency assessment, and skills maintenance efforts. ⋯ EMS agencies should implement both quantitative (objective) and qualitative (subjective) measures of performance to assess competency in pediatric respiratory distress and airway management. EMS agencies choosing to incorporate pediatric endotracheal intubation or supraglottic airway insertion must use pediatric-specific quality management benchmarks and perform focused review of advanced airway management.

Prognostic Prediction Using the Clinical Data and Ultrasomics-Based Model in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) Combined with Acute Kidney Injury (AKI).
A model was constructed based on clinical and ultrasomics features to predict the prognosis of patients in the respiratory intensive unit (RICU) who had acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) combined with acute kidney injury (AKI). AKI ensues after ARDS in RICU ordinarily. The prognostic prediction tool was further developed on this basis. ⋯ The prognosis of ARDS patients combined with AKI is usually poor. The combination model based on clinical and ultrasomics features had the highest predictive performance. This model can be used to improve the clinical outcome and prognosis.
