Observational Study
Short-term mortality of patients ≥80 years old admitted to European intensive care units: an international observational study.
Limited evidence suggests variation in mortality of older critically ill adults across Europe. We aimed to investigate regional differences in mortality among very old ICU patients. ⋯ The apparent variation in short-term mortality rates of older adults hospitalised in ICUs across Europe can be largely attributed to differences in the clinical profile of patients admitted. The volume-outcome relationship identified in this population requires further investigation.

Few studies have explored the utility of screening for cognitive impairment near hospital discharge in intensive care unit survivors. ⋯ Assessing for cognitive impairment at hospital discharge may help identify intensive care unit survivors at higher risk of severe physical disabilities after critical illness.

To assess the effect of different thromboprophylaxis regimens on clinical outcomes and mortality of critical ill patients with coronavirus disease -19 (COVID-19). ⋯ A high-dose anticoagulation therapy and addition of aspirin to LMWH therapy did not decrease the mortality rates and LOS in ICU in critical ill COVİD-19 patients. In addition, it did not increase the incidence of major hemorrhage and major thrombotic events.

The Relationship between Mortality and the Modified Nutrition Risk in Critically Ill (mNUTRIC) and Nutritional Risk Screening 2002 (NRS-2002) Scores in the Intensive Care Unit.
To measure the effects on mortality of the Modified Nutrition Risk in Critically Ill (mNUTRIC) and Nutritional Risk Screening 2002 (NRS-2002) scores in critical patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and to investigate the relationship between macronutrient deficiency and the mNUTRIC and NRS-2002 scores. ⋯ Intensive care unit, Mortality, mNUTRIC, Nutritional status, NRS-2002.
