Meta AnalysisThe efficacy and safety of liraglutide in the obese, non-diabetic individuals: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Liraglutide has been shown to improve glucose tolerance and lose weight in individuals with type 2 diabetes. To date, no meta-analysis of liraglutide's safety and efficacy in individuals without diabetes has been conducted. ⋯ This systematic review and meta-analysis indicates that liraglutide to be an effective and safe treatment for weight loss in the obese, non-diabetic individuals.

Meta AnalysisModifiable and non-modifiable risk factors in ischemic stroke: a meta-analysis.
Stroke is a heterogeneous, multifactorial disease regulated by modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors like total cholesterol, triglycerides, high density lipid-cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipid-cholesterol (LDL-C) and glucose and non-modifiable factors like age. Evaluation of these risk factors for ischemic stroke may contribute to more effective prevention. ⋯ Meta-analysis revealed that levels of triglyceride and glucose are the predisposing factors for ischemic stroke in the Asian population.

Meta AnalysisThe efficacy and safety of 10 mg/day vortioxetine compared to placebo for adult major depressive disorder: a meta-analysis.
There is a growing interest in vortioxetine in major depressive disorder (MDD). ⋯ 10 mg/d vortioxetine was more effective, but easily induced nausea and constipation when compared to placebo for MDD in adult.

Meta AnalysisIL-18 polymorphisms and tuberculosis susceptibility: a meta-analysis.
To investigate the association between IL-18 polymorphisms and Tuberculosis(TB). ⋯ The present meta-analysis found no evidence for IL-18 -607C>A and -137G>C polymorphisms as risk factors for TB. Further large-scale and well-designed articles are still needed to validate this result.

Meta AnalysisAssociation of FokI, TaqI, BsmI and ApaI polymorphisms with diabetic retinopathy: a pooled analysis of case-control studies.
To assess synthetically the association between polymorphisms in the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene (FokI, BsmI, ApaI, and TaqI) and diabetic retinopathy (DR). ⋯ This meta-analysis of case-control studies revealed that the VDR-FokI polymorphism (F allele) decreased the risk of DR in Chinese people, among included studies without publication bias, during a comparison analysis between normal subjects and DR patients, and among articles published after 2010. Further rigorous and prospective studies with large sample size are needed to confirm our findings.
