Previous studies have shown a significant association between the triglyceride glucose index (TyG) and suicidal ideation in Korean women. However, this association has not yet been examined among American adults. This study aims to investigate the association between TyG and suicidal ideation using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. ⋯ Subgroup analysis and interaction tests showed no significant correlation between gender, age, race, marital status, education, body mass index, poverty income ratio, smoking status, drinking status, diabetes, hypertension, stroke, and cancer (P > .05 for all interactions). Our findings confirm a significant and positive association between the TyG and suicidal ideation among American adults. Further large-scale prospective studies are needed to analyze the role of TyG in suicidal ideation.

Infertility is closely related to obesity. Relative fat mass (RFM) is a newer index for assessing percentage of body fat, which reflects the amount of body fat better than body mass index (BMI), but its relationship with infertility needs further study. The purpose of this study was to assess whether there was an association between RFM and infertility in women aged 20 to 44 years in the United States. ⋯ In contrast, no statistically significant association between RFM and infertility was found on the left side of K1 as well as on the right side of K2. There was a nonlinear relationship between RFM and infertility, with a positive association with infertility when RFM was in the range of 31.04 to 48.4. This suggests that RFM may be an alternative to BMI in the management of obese infertile women, but this needs to be further confirmed by prospective studies.

Effect of nursing care based on goal-oriented mind mapping model on the prognosis of patients with severe brain injury.
The objective of this study was to observe the effect of nursing care based on goal-oriented mind-mapping on the prognosis of patients with severe brain injury. Clinical data of 116 patients with severe brain injury admitted to Qinghe County Central Hospital between March 2021 and August 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Based on the nursing mode the patients received, they were divided into an Observation group (n = 58, patients received nursing based on the goal-oriented mind mapping mode) and a Control group (n = 58, patients received routine care). ⋯ The total incidence of complications in the Observation group was lower than that in the Control group (P < .05). After intervention, neurological function, cerebral oxygen metabolism indicators, and quality of life of the 2 groups improved significantly compared with those before the intervention; furthermore, the neurological function and cerebral oxygen metabolism indexes of the Observation group were better than those of the Control group (P < .05). The nursing care based on goal-oriented mind-mapping model for patients with severe brain injury can effectively shorten the length of hospital stay, reduce the occurrence of prognostic complications, and improve the recovery of neurological and limb motor functions, and ultimately achieve the goal of improving the quality of life.

Association between serum vitamin D, uric acid, C-reactive protein, and disease severity in ulcerative colitis: A retrospective study.
Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an inflammatory disease of the intestinal mucosa, and immunodeficiency is the main cause. Vitamin D (VD) has been shown to regulate many immune diseases, and studies have found that the level of uric acid (UA) and C-reactive protein (CRP) may also affect the severity of UC. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between VD levels and disease severity in UC patients. ⋯ Gender affects serum UA, CRP, and disease severity. Males have significantly higher serum UA and CRP levels than females, while disease severity is generally lower than that of females. However, the mechanism of abnormal serum vitamin and trace element levels in UC patients remains to be further studied.

The purpose of this study is to explore the diagnostic efficacy and value of ultrasound detection for testicular torsion in children with scrotal and testicular diseases. A total of 120 children with acute scrotal swelling and pain who were treated in our hospital from August 2017 to August 2022 were selected for preliminary diagnosis through color Doppler ultrasound diagnostic instrument examination. The final diagnosis was made through surgical or conservative treatment. ⋯ The sensitivity of ultrasound diagnosis was 95.24% (73/77), specificity was 78.57% (34/43), and accuracy was 89.29% (107/120). Ultrasound can effectively diagnose testicular torsion and evaluate the success rate of testicular reduction. Early treatment of patients with testicular torsion leads to better efficacy and higher survival rates.
