Primary membranous nephropathy (PMN) is a predominant cause of adult nephrotic syndrome, with its incidence witnessing a progressive surge over time. Approximately 35% to 47% of patients progress to renal failure within 10 years, causing a huge social burden. Within China, the proportion of PMN in primary glomerular disease exhibits a gradual ascension. ⋯ Considering the dysregulation of the complement system has been observed in PMN, complement inhibitors become increasingly promising. Several clinical trials are presently underway to evaluate the efficacy of complement inhibitors, such as MASP2 antagonists (OMS721), C3 and C3b antagonists (APL2), FD inhibitors (BCX9930), C3aR antagonists (SB290157 and JR14a), FB inhibitors (LNP023). This article reviews the recent research progress on the role of the complement pathway in the pathogenesis of PMN, and underscores the importance of continued research into the complement pathway and its inhibitors, which may pave the way for groundbreaking advancements in the management of PMN.

Home-based care practices on prevention of malaria in children under 5 years: A narrative review.
Malaria is a major threat to lives in developing countries, especially in Africa. A lot of measures have been tried to curb the increased mortality and morbidity associated with malaria. A lot of resources have been channeled to control the devastating effects of malaria in these parts of the world. ⋯ Effective use of insecticide-treated bed nets is necessary to eliminate the above serious sequelae in children under 5 years old. Households and especially caregivers apply the use of impregnated mosquito nets and cleaning of surrounding bushes. According to research results, the use of indoor residual spray nets and insecticide-impregnated nets has significantly contributed to the prevention of malaria in children.

Malaria, a global public health challenge, continues to affect millions of lives, particularly in regions where its transmission is endemic. The interplay between climate change and malaria dynamics has emerged as a critical concern, reshaping the landscape of this vector-borne disease. This review publication, titled "Adapting to the shifting landscape: Implications of climate change for malaria control," explores the multifaceted relationship between climate change and the control of malaria. ⋯ The paper also identifies future directions and research needs, underscoring the importance of staying ahead of the evolving climate-malaria relationship. This review underscores the urgency of adapting to the changing landscape of malaria transmission driven by climate change. It emphasizes the significance of proactively addressing climate-related challenges to enhance malaria control and protect the health and well-being of vulnerable populations.

Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) involves autoimmune and inflammatory responses in the central nervous system, primarily affecting the optic nerves and spinal cord. Atypical presentations such as ataxia and syncope complicate the diagnosis, and lesions in the medulla are easily mistaken for cerebral infarction. This case report emphasizes the need to recognize such manifestations to avoid misdiagnosis and ensure timely treatment. ⋯ Atypical manifestations of NMOSD, such as ataxia, syncope, and trigeminal neuralgia, increase diagnostic difficulty. Recognizing these symptoms is crucial to avoid misdiagnosis and ensure timely and appropriate treatment for patients.

Recently, JAKi has also been widely proved to be an effective alternative to conventional treatment for Synovitis acne pustulosis-hyperostosis-osteitis (SAPHO) cases, after failure of multiple drugs including those described above. But what to do when all these treatments fail? We report a case of remission from Tripterygium wilfordii Hook (TwHF) treatment. ⋯ In this study, TwHF was successful in treating a patient with refractory SAPHO syndrome who was refractory to multiple Western medications without significant adverse effects or toxicities, but further follow-up is needed to determine long-term efficacy. More case reports as well as clinical trials are still needed to confirm whether TwHF can effectively treat refractory SAPHO syndrome.
