Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA) is widely used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) for its significant hypoglycemic effect, weight loss and small side effects. Some studies have shown that GLP-1RA has an inhibitory effect on prostate cancer, and its application will produce adverse effects associated with an increased or decreased risk of some tumors. GLP-1R is widely expressed by various types of cells and tissues in the human body, so GLP-1RA has attracted wide clinical attention to the occurrence, development and prognosis of tumors, which brings more new directions and hopes for the treatment of prostate cancer. This paper describes the expression of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) in prostate cancer and the effects of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA) on prostate cancer.

The challenge of developing comprehensive mathematical models for guiding public health initiatives in disease control is varied. Creating complex models is essential to understanding the mechanics of the spread of infectious diseases. We reviewed papers that synthesized various mathematical models and analytical methods applied in epidemiological studies with a focus on infectious diseases such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2, Ebola, Dengue, and Monkeypox. ⋯ This study underlines the impact of public health measures and the critical importance of spatial modeling in detecting transmission zones and informing targeted interventions. The results highlight the need for ongoing financing for research, especially beyond the coronavirus, and address the difficulties in converting analytically complicated findings into practical public health recommendations. Overall, this review emphasizes that further research and innovation in these areas are crucial for addressing ongoing and future public health challenges.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Comparative outcomes of cemented versus cementless stems in bipolar hemiarthroplasty for femoral neck fractures.
We aimed to compare the clinical and surgical outcomes of cemented vs uncemented bipolar hemiarthroplasty in the treatment of femoral neck fractures in the elderly. Patients (n = 99) without preoperative cardiopulmonary problems undergoing bipolar hemiarthroplasty for femoral neck fracture between August 2015 and February 2019 were randomly divided into cemented (group C) and uncemented (group U) stem fixation groups. Mean operative time, mean intraoperative blood loss, and percentage of intraoperative use of vasopressors, pre- and postoperative activities of daily living (ADL), incidence of postoperative complications, and radiological evaluation of stem alignment were evaluated. ⋯ Cemented and uncemented stems were equivalent in terms of blood loss and postoperative complications in patients with femoral neck fractures. Uncemented stem showed advantages in reducing operative time and intraoperative vasopressor administration. Also, fixation method was not investigated in this study.

Complementary and integrative medicine (CIM) is increasingly being integrated into preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases to enhance patient outcomes, manage symptoms, and improve overall well-being. CIM encompasses a broad range of therapies and practices that are not typically part of conventional medical care, such as herbal and non-herbal medicine, yoga, acupuncture, meditation, chiropractic care, and dietary supplements. This review explores the existing evidence on the application, benefits, and challenges of CIM therapies and practices in surgical settings, highlighting the importance of integrating these therapies and approaches with conventional medical practices to enhance patient outcomes.

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide. The vast majority of cervical cancers are associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, but a small proportion of cervical cancers occur independently of HPV infection, with different subtypes having varying rates of occurrence. ⋯ It is currently believed to be associated with the immune microenvironment, certain tumor gene mutations, and some long noncoding RNAs. This article provides an overview of the latest research progress on HPV-negative cervical cancer, including possible reasons, pathogenesis, pathological features, and clinical characteristics, aiming to provide new insights for diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis improvement.
