Access to routine health care and awareness of hypertension status among adults: Results from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2011-2018.
Hypertension is a growing pandemic affecting over 1 billion people worldwide; about 46% of people with hypertension are unaware. ⋯ Access to a routine place of care in a non-emergency department setting is essential to reduce the rate of undiagnosed hypertension among American adults. Policymakers should implement policies to address the shortage of primary care providers and increase access to a routine place of care.

Increasing awareness for dementia risk reduction through a public awareness campaign in Denmark: A pre-post study.
It is estimated that about 40% of all dementia cases are potentially attributable to modifiable risk factors, but awareness of this is relatively lacking. ⋯ This mass-media campaign did not increase overall awareness that dementia risk is partly modifiable. However, exposure to the campaign was associated with more awareness and willingness to take action to improve brain health. Future campaigns should tailor messages to specific subgroups to broaden the reach (e.g., males), co-create materials with the target group, and give special attention to the contribution of metabolic/cardiovascular risk factors to dementia risk.

The mediating roles of mental health problems and racial differences in the linkage between social media use and E-cigarette use among American youth.
Social media use is shown to be linked to youth's e-cigarette use. However, less is known about the underlying mechanisms. This study examined the mediating roles of internalizing and externalizing problems in the association between youth's social media use and e-cigarette use, and the racial differences in the mediation association. ⋯ Mental health problems following social media use served as a risk factor for e-cigarette use among youth. Interventions aiming to improve youth's mental health could in turn temper e-cigarette use among youth social media users, and implementing tailored interventions in response to racial differences is warranted.

Assessing transnational spillover effects of Mexico's front-of-package nutritional labeling system among Mexican Americans in the US.
In 2020, Mexico implemented innovative front-of-package nutrition warning labels (FoPWLs) for packaged foods to increase the salience and understanding of nutrition information. This study evaluated Mexican Americans' self-reported exposure to Mexican FoPWLs and self-reported effects of FoPWLs on purchasing behavior. ⋯ Many Mexican Americans report both exposure to Mexican FOPWLs and reducing purchases of unhealthy foods because of them.

Association of positive childhood experiences with flourishing among children with ADHD: A population-based study in the United States.
Child flourishing includes healthy social and emotional development and an open, engaged approach to learning. However, there remains a significant knowledge gap concerning a minority of children with ADHD who may demonstrate flourishing in one or more areas of functioning. This study investigated the association between positive childhood experiences (PCEs) and flourishing among children with ADHD. ⋯ Our findings revealed a positive association between higher levels of PCEs and greater flourishing among children with ADHD, regardless of the level of childhood adversity they experienced. These results highlight the importance of positive experiences in the lives of children with ADHD, with a specific focus on nurturing supportive relationships within families.
