This study investigated the expression and biological function of JAB1 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). ⋯ In this study, we found that JAB1 was highly overexpressed in cancer tissues, which could influence the malignant behavior of ESCC cells, and was significantly associated with poor prognosis of ESCC patients.

We aimed to assess if quantitative radiomic features can predict programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression in advanced stage lung adenocarcinoma. ⋯ Significant findings of the study Quantitative CT radiomic features can help predict PD-L1 expression, whereas none of the qualitative imaging findings is associated with PD-L1 positivity. What this study adds A prediction model composed of clinical variables and CT radiomic features may facilitate noninvasive assessment of PD-L1 expression.

HER2 mutation is found in 1%-2% of lung cancer patients. Studies comparing chemotherapy to HER2-TKIs are limited. This study aimed to investigate the molecular and clinical patterns of HER2 mutations in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and compare the different outcomes between chemotherapy and HER2-TKIs. ⋯ Chemotherapy achieved better outcomes than afatinib for Chinese HER2 mutated advanced NSCLC patients, especially for the most common subtype, YVMA insertions.

Evaluating the molecular characteristics of brain metastases is limited by difficult access and by the blood-brain barrier, which prevents circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) from entering the blood. In this study, we aimed to compare the sequencing results from cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) ctDNA versus plasma ctDNA, plasma circulating tumor cells (CTCs), and brain tissue specimens from patients with brain metastasis from non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). ⋯ In some small-sample studies, the importance of cerebrospinal fluid in guiding the treatment of cancerous brain lesions has been verified in that it may reflect genomic mutations of brain tumors relatively accurately. Cerebrospinal fluid is a new form of liquid biopsy that can be helpful in improving the management of patients with brain metastasis from non-small cell lung cancer by detecting genetic abnormalities specific to brain metastases.
